The Ritual of Polishing Wine Glasses

Did you know that wine tastes different in different glasses? If you're not convinced, I invite you to try a little experiment. You'll see, it's very easy to do the test at home: pour the same quantity of wine into a cup, a water glass, a plastic glass and your best wine glass. Do the tasting following the 3 steps of a tasting: eye-nose-mouth. First, look at the wine's color, then smell its bouquet, and finally taste it by dipping your lips into it. Start the experiment with your best wine glass, then the water glass, then the coffee cup and finally the plastic glass. Observe the difference.

You'll soon notice that the aromas and taste of wine vary according to the container. It's so striking that by the time you get to the plastic glass, there's almost no aroma or flavor left. Conclusion: it's not snobbery to have beautiful wine glasses to enjoy our best wines! And that doesn't mean you can't use plastic cups for a picnic or a glass of wine around the pool or in the spa!

Les conseils de Natalie Richard

Good wine is best appreciated in the right glass, so it's just as important that it's in top condition. Well washed, well rinsed and above all well polished.

I've done several tests and Solem's polishing cloth is the best option I've found. The microfiber is as soft and effective as the action is fast and pleasant, so it really makes you want to give our glasses a little polish! A simple wipe and it's done!

Make it a ritual!

Les conseils de Natalie RichardA little tip from a pro: personally, I always wash my wine glasses by hand, never in the evening after a dinner party or reception. You're much less likely to break them.

But I must warn you, these cloths are so beautiful and high-performance that the whole family - and even the guests - will want to use them to wipe anything they want to make shine!!!! I'm telling you: EVERYTHING! Dishes, pots, countertops, your car, even the kids will want them to shine their toys!

So make sure you reserve a special place for your polishing cloth and use it only to wipe wine glasses and nothing else. Otherwise, your glasses will bear the marks of what was wiped before.... The good news is that Solem produces a whole range of cloths for wiping dishes, bath towels, beach towels... even wipes for eyewear. So everyone can have their own, according to their needs.

How wonderful!
