MISSION-VISION-VALEURS
Marie-Hélène Doucet and Mylène Lessard had dreamed since childhood of creating their own business. It was during a camping trip that the idea came up.
There had been a lot of rain and we had experienced major irritants with our traditional cotton towels which were slow to dry, filled with sand and for the most part, developed smells of mold. That's when we had our entrepreneurial idea to start Solem. The company was launched in February 2019.
Passion fueled imagination and we are proud to have founded Solem.
We wanted our name to cross language barriers. We wanted a name that inspires the sun while emphasizing our creative uniqueness. The translation of sol in Spanish is sun and in English, sole means single.
To add a little personal note, our two first names begin with the letter M.

Solem microfiber is unsurpassed in its softness. Woven from extremely fine synthetic fibers, Solem microfiber is light and compact, yet absorbs 2 to 3 times its weight in water. Solem microfiber is 70% more absorbent than traditional cotton. It traps water and dirt effectively and dries in record time. Easy to clean, its tight weave makes it exceptionally durable. We also use a superior quality of ink that ensures long-lasting color.
We use 50% recycled fiber in our products. For example, each beach towel recovers 13 bottles of water.

What do you mean by Quebec design?
Designing a product may seem trivial, but it takes a lot of trial and error to achieve a final result that meets Solem's high quality standards. Most of our products are hand-drawn by our team, always with the aim of creating unique graphic concepts that will appeal to everyone. We even collaborate with Laurie Marois, a renowned local painter.
So our Solem products are conceived and designed in our home region of Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean. This local design is more than important to our team. At Solem, everyone is involved in the creative process, and our designers have a knack for putting ideas down on paper, making Solem a distinguished brand that stands out as much for its originality as for the quality of its products. Our creativity is expressed down to the smallest detail to give you a wow effect that's successful every time!
Where are our products made?
We maximize our efforts to surround ourselves with local players in our creation and marketing process. Our ranges are then produced in Asia. Currently, Asia has the greatest expertise in microfibers. We take great care to choose partners who offer excellent quality and who respect our corporate values.
