In February 2019, two mothers, Marie-Hélène Doucet and Mylène Lessard, co-founders of the company, decided to embark on the great entrepreneurial adventure that is Solem.

It was during a family camping trip that the idea came to them:

“There had been a lot of rain and we had experienced major irritations with our traditional cotton towels, which were slow to dry, filled with sand, and most of them developed mildew odors. That's when we had our entrepreneurial idea to start Solem.”

Microfiber quickly won us over with its exceptional qualities. Each product we offer has been carefully designed to facilitate our customers' everyday needs. We have also focused on quality and durability to encourage responsible consumption.

Today, six years later, we want to highlight our journey, our successes, and our commitment to minimizing negative impacts on our environment. At Solem, we firmly believe that economic success goes hand in hand with social and environmental responsibility. This is what guides our choices and influences our decisions.

A women's company, proudly Quebecois

Solem is a proudly Quebec company. All our products are designed in Quebec by our passionate, almost entirely female team. We offer flexible working conditions to facilitate work-life balance. Each person who works at Solem is prioritized to allow them to thrive and develop their talents in a stimulating environment.

Recycled polyester

A little over two years ago, we made the decision to incorporate recycled polyester (post-consumer plastic) into the manufacture of our microfiber towels. We are constantly looking for innovative solutions to reduce our environmental footprint while maintaining the performance and durability of our products.

Eco-responsible packaging

We now offer recyclable shipping bags as well as 100% home compostable shipping bags. We've also reduced over-packaging from our suppliers.

Offsetting our GHGs

To limit our environmental footprint, we prefer Canada Post to ship our orders to our customers, as they are carbon neutral. For 2023, we have combined our other shipments to offset greenhouse gas emissions through the Carbon Boréal organization. As a result, more than 700 trees have been planted in our beautiful region.

And this is just the beginning, as we are currently compiling our data for the year 2024!

Collaboration with Leucan – a renewed partnership

Last year, we partnered with Leucan to support children with cancer and their families. This cause is particularly close to our hearts. We received incredible support from our customers, surpassing our goal of $26,000. Next year promises even more, as we've decided to continue this wonderful adventure.
