Travel is adventure for some, but it can also be stressful if you haven't planned every step properly.
To ensure you leave with peace of mind, enjoy your trip to the fullest, and above all, don't forget anything, here is a checklist to guide you in preparing for your trip.

One to three months before departure:
Passport
Check the expiration date. Did you know that many countries require your passport to be valid for 6 months after your return date? You can always check each country's requirements on the Government of Canada website: https://voyage.gc.ca/voyager/alertes
Hotel reservation
Make sure to confirm your hotel or Airbnb reservations at least one month before your departure to avoid unpleasant surprises.
Driving license
If you plan to drive during your stay, check the country's requirements to ensure your driver's license is valid. If necessary, you can apply for an International Driving Permit. The CAA is the only organization authorized to issue this type of permit in Canada.

Travel insurance
Some group insurance plans offer extensive coverage for international travel. If so, be sure to check the terms and conditions carefully. If you don't have travel insurance, you can apply online or through your travel agent.
Copies of important documents:
Make sure you make copies of all relevant documents in case of loss or theft: passport, credit cards, travel insurance, etc.
Vaccination
For some destinations, it's best to have specific vaccinations. Some vaccines may require more than one dose. Check with your doctor or a travel clinic.
Personal medication
If you require specific prescriptions in preparation for your trip, an appointment with your doctor is essential.
Two to three weeks before your trip
Cash and payment
Credit card or debit card?
Make sure your payment method (credit or debit card) is approved for use in the destination country. Paying with a credit card can help you limit certain fees. It might be a good idea to check the fees with your financial institution. Also, be sure to notify your financial institution of your trip to avoid having your card blocked for fraudulent transactions.
Change your pocket money into local currency before your trip if possible to limit exchange fees. Choose smaller bills, which are less likely to attract attention when making payments. They're also very useful for tipping if needed.
One week before departure:
Drugs
Make sure you have refilled your medications. Remember that all prescription medications must be carried in their original container, labeled with your name.
Many pharmacies now sell inexpensive travel kits that contain all the basic over-the-counter medications you need, which can save you a lot of hassle. Ask your pharmacist for details.
Hygiene products
Take inventory and replenish as needed. Buying hygiene products like a box of tampons can cost you a fortune while traveling.
Don't forget sunscreen and mosquito repellent.
Luggage
To properly pack your suitcase, start about a week before your departure. You can add any last-minute items the day before your departure.
Make sure you have appropriate clothing for your trip. Choose comfortable shoes and clothing.
