Dusting...doesn't have to be a never-ending process!
There's no escaping this chore, because dust always ends up accumulating. However, my best tips will keep the dust from flying around the room and re-depositing itself on every surface.
Forget all types of dusters that lift dust, since they don't retain it.
I tested the microfiber dusting cloth from Solem. This cloth meets all my criteria for good dusting. When dry, it picks up dust from furniture, glass tables, TV screens, light fixers, blinds, lampshades, frames, pictures and even the foliage of houseplants. Very gentle, there's no risk of damaging surfaces, and above all, it leaves no lint or particles on dusted surfaces.
The size of the Solem dusting cloth allowed me to cover a mop (Swiffer style) for cleaning walls, upper door frames, and ceiling nooks where dust threads lodge. I soon noticed that the navy color of the linen had taken on a grayish hue. I had removed several dust particles in just a few minutes, and the cleaning was completed quickly and economically.
To prevent dust :
Electrical baseboards and air vents are dust nests. Vacuum heating system vents regularly, radiators and air filters regularly. This way, you'll eliminate a good deal of the dust in your rooms.
If you air the rooms in your home regularly, you'll see far fewer "dust bunnies" forming under furniture and beds.
A doormat placed at the entrance to the house will trap dust and pet hairs and help keep the house clean.
